Across the Kidron Valley from Jerusalem is the Mount of Olives. Olive trees still abound here over the hillside and valley. While the exact location of Gethsemane is not known, there is a traditional location, with some very ancient olive trees in the courtyard of the Church of All Nations. Adjacent to the courtyard is a walled garden, filled with olive trees both young and old. Our group was the first to arrive in the garden this morning. As I wandered through the garden, the twisted trunk of this tree reminded me of the agony the Savior suffered for us in Gethsemane. I can’t help but look at this picture with gratitude.
